Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Joel Maillard, trading as joelmaillard.com ("we", "us", "our"). If you have questions about how we handle your data, contact us at hello@joelmaillard.com.

2. What data we collect and why

Contact form submissions. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address and message. We use this to respond to your enquiry. Data is stored in AWS DynamoDB (EU West region) and a copy is delivered to our inbox via Amazon SES.

Ebook requests. When you request a free ebook we collect your email address, your answers to the qualification questions, the date and time of the request, and your consent to receive follow-up emails from us. We store this in AWS DynamoDB and use it to send you the download link and relevant updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying "unsubscribe" to any email.

Download activity. When you use a download link we record that the link was used, the download timestamp, and a one-way hash of your IP address. We use this to detect abuse and track download activity. The hash cannot be reversed to identify you.

reCAPTCHA. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA v3 to detect automated or abusive submissions. reCAPTCHA collects device and browser signals on behalf of Google. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

3. Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the following grounds:

• Legitimate interests — responding to contact enquiries and detecting abuse.
• Consent — sending marketing emails to ebook requesters. You give consent when you tick the checkbox on the ebook form and may withdraw it at any time.

4. How long we keep your data

Contact form submissions are retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Ebook lead records are retained for as long as we have an active relationship with you or until you request deletion. Download tokens expire automatically after 24 hours. Rate limit records expire after 10 minutes.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We use the following third-party services to operate this site:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — DynamoDB (data storage), SES (email delivery), Lambda (compute), CloudFront (content delivery). Data is processed in the EU West (London) region.
• Google reCAPTCHA — form security. Google processes device signals according to their own privacy policy.

6. Your rights

Under applicable data protection law you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@joelmaillard.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
